Reading Motivation Presentations

Reader’s Theater Script: Harbor Me

I wrote this Reader’s Theater script based on an excerpt of Jacqueline Woodson’s middle grade novel Harbor Me. The passage has been adapted to be read, and/or performed by four readers: Narrators 1-4. The script includes an implementation guide & reader’s notes.

5th Grade Minecraft EDU: Egyptian Tomb Unit

This project happened at the end of 2021, and was part of the 5th Grade Egyptian Tomb unit – an annual, all-grade event that culminates in a presentation to the community. This year, a new learning objective was added to make the project more technologically interactive: to recreate research findings in a Minecraft EDU world.

This research guide on banned books, and Banned Books Week is meant as a starting point for middle school students (5th-8th grade) to be explored with a teacher, or librarian. Faculty Development: Spaces Portfolio Support

Spaces is the portfolio platform we piloted in 5th Grade Humanities during the 2020-2021 school year. For the 2021-2022 school year, we will be expanding the 5th Grade portfolios to include projects from other disciplines. Faculty Development: Video Streaming Information & Resources

This resource was created for teachers during the 2021-2022 school year. There were several questions coming up about video streaming, and the legality of how to do it in the classroom (both with academic, and non-academic films). This presentation contains basic information about not violating copyright laws by using personal streaming accounts, and how we should model & practice Berkeley Carroll’s expectations of digital citizenship, as well as respect of intellectual property.

8th Grade SketchUp Unit

This project was done in collaboration with the 8th Grade Science teacher during the 2020-2021 school year. In the past, this project had been done during the engineering unit with this guiding question: “How can I improve the social, physical and aesthetic cityscape that my community inhabits by designing a bridge that is approved by experts in the field?” There was no digital component, and bridges were constructed using physical materials in the school’s Beta Lab.
